There I was, wading my way through the crazy first year of motherhood, newly freed from my 9-5 job, and realizing I needed something beyond pureed veggies and "The Wheels on the Bus" to energize my brain. I had always been crafty and creative as a kid, and I welcomed an opportunity to dust off my neglected sewing machine and make a tutu for a friend's daughter. Word quickly spread and I found myself expanding into some local stores and online to Etsy. Fast forward 2 years and here I am - loving life as a stay at home mom to Harrison (my "little h.") and watching as each day brings new and exciting changes to my wonderful, creative little corner of the world.
I've never been one to do things halfway, and my business is no exception. From the first moment of design inspiration to the final assembly process, each item in the little h. family is created with integrity, passion and painstaking attention to detail. The truth is, I don't know how to do it any other way. Whether it's respecting copyrights on licenced logos and characters (and instead offering custom designed patterns on capes and crowns) or sourcing from the most reputable supplier of US-made tulle, I take my commitment to excellence seriously.
Let's face it - every parent is picky about what his or her child plays with and wears. Who wouldn't be?! We all want to find products that are useful, adorable, safe and creative. Here at little h., I only offer items I'd feel comfortable letting my own children wear, even when it means spending more time or resources to get it exactly right.
When all is said and done (...and sewn and ironed and boxed up) I love what I do. LOVE it. The joy of knowing my little creations are bringing smiles to kids, families and photographers all over the world is truly unmatched. And when I hear the stories afterward about how perfect the photo shoot was, or how wildly she danced in her new tutu, or how surprised the new mom was to receive her personalized gift... well, that's the fuel that keeps my engine running. It doesn't take much to make this mama happy, folks :)
